Thanksgiving in New York: Watch the Balloons Come to Life

If the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is something you prefer to watch from the comfort of your home while the turkey’s in the oven, I don’t blame you!  But consider this fun family event the day before Thanksgiving:  Take the kids, or your love, or your friends up to Central Park West and Columbus Avenue (around the Museum of Natural History) to see the balloons for the parade come to life!  The action starts around 3:00 but here’s a little insider tip: the balloons really become something to see around 5:00 so I suggest going then.

Take a thermos of hot chocolate or cider and a camera and see if your kids can spot their favorites!  There are three new balloons this year.  Joining long-standing characters like Kermit, Sponge Bob, Spiderman, and Buzz Lightyear will be Hello Kitty, Elf on a Shelf, and Papa Smurf!

What a fun way to kick off the holidays in New York!
