2. Andy Warhol— From A to B and Back Again

The exhibition positions Warhol’s career as a continuum, demonstrating that he didn’t slow down after surviving the assassination attempt that nearly took his life in 1968, but entered into a period of intense experimentation. The show illuminates the breadth, depth, and interconnectedness of the artist’s production: from his beginnings as a commercial illustrator in the 1950s, to his iconic Pop masterpieces of the early 1960s, to the experimental work in film and other mediums from the 1960s and 70s, to his innovative use of readymade abstraction and the painterly sublime in the 1980s.

Dates: November 12, 2018 – March 31, 2019

3. KAWS “GONE”

Following his Vanity Fair On Art 2018 cover, KAWS has now officially launched his highly-anticipated “GONE” exhibition at the Skarstedt Gallery in New York City. The latest showcase spotlights never-before-seen paintings with masterful compositions that are more abstract yet retain the Brooklyn-based artist’s colorful acrylic palette with his trademark XX motif in the mix. Accompanying the tall paintings are Companion sculptures including his BFF statue in blue. The highlight of the show is the greyscale Companion holding the resting blue BFF version in its arms; a silhouette that critics note have similarities to Michaelangelo’s Pieta. Altogether, the exhibit surrounds the theme of loss. Check out the preview above and drop by Skarstedt Gallery yourself to check out the works in person. “GONE” is on view until December 19.
