Claudia’s Resolutions {Part Two}: Healthy Eating for the Whole Family

This week I took a bold step in my life and was reminded how important healthy eating is to our overall health: physically, mentally and emotionally.  When you’re kicking things up in your life, be it big career changes, a new fitness routine, new relationships, it’s always important to rejuvenate, recharge and replenish your good energy by putting good things into your body.  What better timing than to explore some of my tips for eating healthy for yourself and the whole family!
Start by downloading our shopping list!  Then I thought I’d share with you my favorite weekend brunch and some of my diet tips I’ve picked up at Tracy Anderson Method.  This meal will fill you up and it’s good for your whole body!  Even more, your kids will love it too.  Remember during any meal that the key to eating well is a good balance.  It’s impossible and tremendously boring to choose healthy at all times.  A day of eating buttermilk fried chicken at Bubby’s is worth all the dieting you do on the days in between.
Claudia’s Weekend Brunch:
Scrambled eggs with tomatoes, avocado with a slice of bacon.
Favorite Diet Tips:
Good things to keep in your kitchen: eggs, paprika, green tea
Things to stay away from: nuts, coffee (that’s a hard one for me!)
Spice it up!
Many people are discouraged by healthy foods because they’re “less flavorful.”  Remember that spices and herbs have a lot of health benefits and can add so much flavor to your meal!  Bests are ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, garlic, rosemary, turmeric, chili pepper and fennel.
Best Meals:
Tuna salad over romaine lettuce
Kale salad with cucumber, tomato and basil
Grilled salmon with lemon, salt & pepper, and steamed artichokes on the side
Seasoned turkey burger patty with sides of zucchini and pasta
This month we took the kids to Whole Foods with us to share with them the fun of choosing veggies and fruits and good meats.

  1. problem is Whole Foods…stopped patronizing because of CEO’s commentaries about social issues. Fortunately, here in Berkeley, Ca., many Farmers’ markets and great other stores that carry organic food.

    1. Hi Yvette, here in NYC we have many farmers who come to Union Square Park, and we also go to Chelsea Market. We food shop where we can buy organic. Sometimes in NYC with juggling family life and careers we make a pit stop at wholefoods. Stay tuned for shopping at best farmers markets here in the city! Thank you for your feedback!
