Winter Fitness: What to Try in NYC

It’s so true that the city can be your gym, but in the winter months it’s much harder to convince yourself to walk those extra blocks or layer up to go for a run.  If you are looking for something new to keep you moving and excited, here are some of the city’s best classes and programs!

Tracy Anderson Method
My personal workout of choice (and haven!) is Tracy Anderson Method!  If you have a love of dance and a tiny build, Tracy’s method is highly recommended.  I love taking a dance class paired with a mat class – it’s the perfect way to sculpt and get in your cardio, plus fun time!  Dancing is so good for my happiness!  Learn more about Tracy’s method or sign up for classes: tracyandersonmethod.com

SOULCYCLE
You may have seem their locations all over the city.  I always admire their branding when I pass by one of their studios.  If you’re looking for an intense full body workout with a fun and energizing atmosphere, SoulCycle may be fore you! Not only do riders burn calories and get their hearts pumping, but using the SoulCycle® Method, riders also work their core and use hand weights to tone their upper bodies. Beyond providing an intense cardio workout, SoulCycle also incorporates a mental component of inspirational coaching. By keeping the lights low and riding by candlelight, SoulCycle creates a cardio sanctuary where riders can come to clear their heads. PURE YOGA
Pure Yoga is committed to the evolution of your yoga practice in a modern, accessible way. They are devoted to offering the best yoga experience possible: the city’s most sought-after teachers, welcoming and grounding practice rooms, over 100 classes a week per studio, master classes lead by world-renowned instructors, and a series of workshops and community events created to build our community and enhance your practice on and off the mat.  I highly recommend the Figure 4 class! BARRY’S BOOTCAMP
Barry’s Bootcamp’s no-nonsense, results driven reputation may intimidate some newcomers, but they quickly discover that Barry’s Bootcamp delivers an affordable, efficient and fun workout in a night club party environment that is nothing like the cliché boot camps found in every town.  Locations in Chelsea, TriBeCa and the Hamptons.  Learn more: barrysbootcamp.com

PHYSIQUE 57
This much-talked-about company is becoming so popular in the city! Physique 57 is an innovative workout program that combines isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches to systematically lengthen and sculpt your muscles and create a beautiful, lean body. The process is similar to interval training, but they’ve taken that concept to the next level to make it even more effective.  Physique 57’s interval sets use your body’s own weight as resistance, and through dynamic exercises, your muscles are targeted and overloaded to the point of fatigue, then stretched for relief.  There are three studios in Manhattan!
