The {Tribeca} Life: Two Eateries to Try This Week

{ Washington Market Tavern} One of the best casual dining experiences in Tribeca is at Washington Market Tavern. Located on 41 Murray Street between Broadway and Church Street, this local restaurant has the perfect lounge for events, and I’m planning on hosting a few here in the coming months! Headed by Mudville 9’s owner, Eric Schwimmer, this restaurant and lounge offers a seasonal menu of shareable plates and updated classics of locally sourced ingredients created by Executive Chef Aksel Theikul, and a collaborative cocktail list by Beverage Director Ste King.

the {foodie} life: Champagne Charlie at The High Line Hotel

One of the newest additions to fabulous Chelsea is the champagne garden at the High Line Hotel, Champagne Charlie. Thanksgiving Volunteer Opportunities

With Thanksgiving coming up this month, I wanted to highlight some great ways NYC kids and their parents can help give back to those in need. Here are a range of opportunities for children of all ages so everyone can participate. While kids may not be able to work in a soup kitchen, they can certainly help the homeless and hungry in other meaningful ways.

The {Foodie} Life: Restaurant Spotlight

New York City, the largest in the U.S. in terms of population, is a gastronomical paradise with every type, quantity, style and price range of food available. There are so many restaurants within the five boroughs of New York City that you could eat at a different one every day and still not have tried them all 12 years later. That doesn’t stop most New Yorkers from trying the more than 4,200 restaurants in the city. If that many options seems a bit daunting here are a few to put at the top of your list.

The {Mommy} Life: Mother & Daughter Day on the High Line

One of my favorite past times is taking my children out and experiencing the wonder of our enchanting City through their eyes. Yesterday, Sofia and I had fun strolling along the High Line and cozying up in the charming High Line Hotel.

Friday Feature: Open Houses, Hermes Scarves, Pizza and more!

TGIF, everyone! We’ve made it through another week and there are plenty of fun things to reward yourself for a job well-done. Make sure to visit an open house this weekend or try your hand at perfecting the perfect pizza pie. If pizza isn’t on your menu these days and you have an exciting Halloween costume you’re trying to fit into, then check out a chic yoga class in Little Italy or try a CrossFit class along the East River – if you dare.

The {New York} Life: Friday Feature

Happy Friday, everyone! Last week, I enjoyed sharing some hot spots with you so much, that I’ve decided to share more with you every Friday. I had an incredible meal at Carbone this week – I definitely suggest you add it to your list if you’ve not already been. If you’re in the mood for a ritzy night out, try the SL nightclub. Feel like getting pampered? -Stop by Pas de Deux Salon for an invigorating scalp treatment. And if you’re looking for something to keep you (and perhaps even the kids) occupied, The New Yorker Festival and the James Beard House both have some exciting events in store for the weekend.

The {New York} Life in PARIS!

Last week I had the great fortune to travel to Paris, the City of Light, with a handful of women who, in addition to being incredible mothers and fitness buddies at Tracy Anderson Method, are some of the best friends I could ever ask for. Traveling to Paris with them was a completely different experience than traveling alone or with family – we didn’t want to go home, so we went BIG! The restaurants were world-class, the museums took my breath away, and the shopping …oh my gosh, the shopping! Here are the highlights of a week in Paris to give you the travel bug too!

The {Stylish} Life: A Night Out on the Town

If you ask me, fall starts when the pumpkin spiced lattes start rolling out but the official first day of the season was last Sunday, the 22nd so now there is no denying it – Summer is over and fall is here! Before the sky darkens and the weather gets too frigid, take your sweetheart out on the town for a fun night of great food, exciting shows and sumptuous cocktails. Here are a few spots on the top of my list:

Central Park Conservancy Film Festival

The {ACTIVE} Life: Fun Weekend Activities for the Whole Family

August Events in the Hamptons

August is a busy month in the City and in the Hamptons as well. Here are a few events that I’m looking forward to in the next few weeks:

The Hottest Rooftops for the Fourth of July

Independence Day in Gotham means fun, food and frivolity across the boroughs. Instead of lining up along the Hudson River to see the Macy’s fireworks like the rests of the crowds, why not secure your own perch in the sky? The Macy’s show will boast over 40,000 fireworks starting at 9:00 this Thursday evening and will last approximately 45 minutes. There are many spectacular rooftop bars throughout the city to get an up-close view of the show here are my recommendations:

The {Fit} Life: Immune Boosting Superfoods

The best thing about eating healthy isn’t as much the affect it has on the outside as the benefits you can gain on the inside. Heath is more important than size, and these immune boosting superfoods will keep you healthy and able to enjoy your busy work days, workouts, family time, and all that makes up your New York life!

Keep these foods prevalent in your diet for multiple immune system benefits…

Dining out in New York is one of the things that make this the greatest city to live in! No matter the occasion or the company, there is always a new place to try with your friends, family or date. It always excites New Yorkers to have the best experiences in dining – and such variety – at our fingertips.

The {Foodie} Life: Dinner at Iron Chef Morimoto’s Tribeca Canvas Restaurant

Last night I had an amazing dinner at a new favorite spot, Tribeca Canvas. Directed by Iron Chef Morimoto, the well-priced menu features American cuisine with an Asian twist. My favorites were the shrimp nachos, the insanely delicious sea bass, and my friend Rogeria had the steak! We also shared a bottle of my favorite Malbec (Riglos Gran Malnec 2010). The decor is beautiful and I love having a place like this in Tribeca! That’s just what I told Chef Morimoto during our brief chat…

Food Chain: What You Don’t Know About Our Fruits and Vegetables

Food Chain is a film by Eric Schlosser (Food, Inc., Fast Food Nation) and director Sanjay Rawal (Challenging Impossibility) that explores the exploitation of farm workers in the agriculture industry in the United States, the complicity of government and corporations in perpetuating human rights abuses and the role consumers can play in ending some of the most egregious human rights violations within our borders. Our fruits and vegetables are grown and gathered by workers who are underpaid (wages equal cents on the dollar!) and who are bought and sold like slaves…

The {Foodie} Life: Shame On Sandy!

This Saturday is New York’s Shame On Sandy event featuring food from the city’s most fabulous chefs and variety show performances from actors likes of Anthony Bourdain, Abigail Breslin and Tracy Anderson! The event was put together by Melanie Dunea, the creator and photographer of “My Last Supper.” I’m really excited for what should be a fun and unique event as well as an opportunity to contribute to the continued recovery from Hurricane Sandy.

Claudia’s Resolutions {Part One} Rejuvenate for A Healthy New Year

If you’re anything like me, you are in great need of a detox after the big meals and constant little snacks of the holidays. How convenient that New Years and its resolutions are coming up this week, giving us the perfect opportunity for a fresh start at revising our own personal goals and daily habits.  Speaking of habits, how you start your day can determine the rest of your day, both in what you give to your body and how you feed your mind…

A {Blueprint} for Health through the Holidays

Thanksgiving Dinner in New York

Dining my way through Manhattan

A couple of weeks ago I had a few amazing dinners with some incredible people: a couple that Mark and I relocated from London, the advertising director at Manhattan Magazine, and my sweet high school girlfriends celebrating our birthdays together. All three of restaurants were so exceptional in service, and the food was beyond delicious!

Here’s a recap of these great New York spots and the best dishes to try…

The {Foodie} Life: New NYC Restaurants Opening this Fall

It’s fall in New York, and that statement comes with an automatic sensory overload. Art openings (check back Monday for my choice of must-see exhibit), the most perfect walks on the High-Line, the best fashion to be had in the city, and an outpouring of new restaurants to expand your tastes! This fall, I am thrilled to see the new batch of great restaurants opening their doors and feeding our bellies (and, for we foodies, our souls).

The {Summer} Life: A Garden Barbecue

It’s my birthday week, and I promise you there’s no shortage of celebrations. We kicked things off with a garden barbecue at Sonya Chodry’s gorgeous house. She grows so much of her own food, and everything was delicious, from the salad to the vegetables to the burgers on the grill. There’s nothing better than sharing delicious and healthy food with amazing friends! I’m feeling so blessed.

My Tracy Anderson Method Detox Week Experience

What an unforgettable week! I just finished Detox Week at Tracy Anderson Method’s Water Mill Studio in the Hamptons, during which I was challenged like never before! What an amazing group of motivated, inspiring women I was honored to share the experience with. Here, I’ll share with you a little bit of my Detox Week experience.

Manhattan Magazine’s Six Degrees Dinner Series

Mark and I were fortunate to be invited to Manhattan Magazine’s Six Degrees Dinner Series in June. The intimate dinner party was hosted by the magazine’s Senior Vice President and Group Publisher, Matt Caroll, at Midtown’s newest restaurant Brasserie Pushkin, celebrating the June edition of MANHATTAN’s monthly Six Degrees dinner series.

The {West Chelsea} Life featuring Sandra Alvim

Yesterday I stopped by the West Chelsea home of my client-turned-friend Sandra Alvim, an astrologer, writer, and beauty expert. Her book, Yes I’m 58, is evidence of the healthy and fit lifestyle that Sandra lives. And, as she told me while we chatted, West Chelsea is the perfect neighborhood for such a lifestyle.

SoHo’s Imperial No. 9

A favorite lunch spot for sparking creativity, Imperial No. 9 is settled just off the lobby of the dreamy Mondrian SoHo hotel at 9 Crosby Street. I took my creative team there yesterday for a little Friday lunch and some brainstorming. Known for bringing sustainable seafood to downtown New York, and for its greenhouse-and-chandalier atmosphere, the restaurant was the perfect place to escape the heat (and then watch the rain!).

Classic SoHo Dining at Mercer Kitchen

Mercer Kitchen is a classic Soho staple where you can always count on favorites like steamed shrimp salad with avocado, mushrooms, tomato, and champagne vinaigrette, and I love the roasted chicken with french beans, carrots and mashed potatoes.
There’s a small street level cafe and then a larger dining room one floor below; each room is diverse but all are shadowy and warm, with original brick and cozy booths. The crown jewel is the open kitchen.
