A Little Paris in the Village: Meet Château Royale

There’s something so timeless and irresistible about French elegance—and when it meets New York City energy, it becomes unforgettable.

I just heard that Château Royale has officially opened in the heart of Greenwich Village, and I had to share it with you.

If you know me, you know I live for interiors that transport, for experiences that feel curated yet effortless, and for discovering spaces that are rooted in story and nostalgia. This new spot seems to check every one of those boxes.

Old-World French Glamour, Reimagined

Located at 205 Thompson Street, Château Royale feels like a love letter to classic New York French restaurants, but with a fresh, dressed-up lens. Think rich, jewel-toned interiors, intimate lighting, and a bar that feels like something out of Paris in the 1930s—only better, because it’s here, in the city we love.

It’s the kind of place that makes you want to dress up again, sip a cocktail slowly, and savor every bite.

Why I’m Intrigued

Let’s talk about the menu—because this is not your typical modern French twist. It’s thoughtful. Emotional. Inspired by dishes that once defined an era and are now being brought back with new life.

  • Duck à l’Orange made with calamansi, bergamot, and blood orange
  • Lobster Thermidor—elegant and dramatic
  • Chicken Cordon Bleu (yes, it’s back—and I’m here for it)
  • And the Beggar’s Purses… delicate crepes tied with chives, filled with caviar and crème fraîche

This is the kind of cooking that feels familiar but elevated. Comfort, with a couture finish.

The Details That Matter

One thing I absolutely adore? The drama of a tableside martini cart. At Château Royale, cocktails are chilled in hidden freezers and assembled right at your table. It’s a vibe.

And as a design lover, I have to say—the upstairs skylight and the downstairs bar create two completely different moods, both equally magical. It’s moody, it’s romantic, and it’s grounded in history. The space used to be a two-story carriage house, and now it’s one of the most thoughtfully designed restaurants I’ve seen in a long time.

Reserve early—I already know this is going to be the spot.

There’s a movement happening in New York—a return to storytelling in restaurants, to warmth, to well-made food that doesn’t chase trends. Château Royale feels like part of that movement, and I can’t wait to be there, glass in hand, soaking it all in.

See you at the martini cart.
