It’s an exciting time for new Miami condominium developments. Attention-grabbing projects are rising in every community from Aventura to South Beach, Downtown Miami to North Bay Village, Brickell Avenue to Miami Arts District. Whether you are in Miami this week for Art Basel, or planning a visit in the next few months, I encourage you to check them out!
Art Basel is one of the most stellar annual events in the Art World, and this year’s festivities run December 2 through 7 in Miami Beach, FL. The event draws in over 70,000 visitors – curators and gawkers alike – from around the world every year, making it one of the most global art events in existence. This event features displays by numerous esteemed artisans of Modern and Contemporary art as well as many rising stars. Many of these installations will be showcased in the main exhibit, while other earnest artworks and performances become one with the seascape, Collins Park and SoundScape Park specifically. Here we’ve mapped out a list of what to do this year…

Soho was once a thriving art district known for it’s galleries but now the neighborhood showcases a different kind of art: the city’s best fashion. All the chicest clothing, shoes, and jewelry can be found among Soho’s busy sidewalks and cobblestone streets. Soho has also become known as one of Manhattan’s best Real Estate neighborhoods. (Sandra Bullock, Meg Ryan, Femke Jensen, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos agree!) Plus there’s still plenty of culture to be found. Here are some highlights of the {soho} life!

{ Washington Market Tavern} One of the best casual dining experiences in Tribeca is at Washington Market Tavern. Located on 41 Murray Street between Broadway and Church Street, this local restaurant has the perfect lounge for events, and I’m planning on hosting a few here in the coming months! Headed by Mudville 9’s owner, Eric Schwimmer, this restaurant and lounge offers a seasonal menu of shareable plates and updated classics of locally sourced ingredients created by Executive Chef Aksel Theikul, and a collaborative cocktail list by Beverage Director Ste King.

{friday feature}: fun for the whole family
Another summer weekend is upon us, and it’s time to kick back and have some fun!
I recently discovered the most inspiring furniture store in Sag Harbor! Located at 40 Madison Street in Sag Harbor, MONC XIII, has something for everyone. Whether your taste is classic or more modern, this shop is unique and fabulous. Curated by LA interior designer, (and Sag Harbor transplant and devotee), Natasha Esch describes her vision for MONC XIII as, “Elegant, personally curated, antique and vintage furniture and accents for the home. We want to inspire our customers with a beautiful environment and most importantly unique, spectacular, hand-picked selections from 18th Century to Mid Century. All backed up by impeccable service and knowledge”.
Whether you choose to head out East to the Hamptons, or stay in the city, there are so many things to do this holiday weekend! One of my favorite activities to do over 4th of July weekend is watch fireworks with my friends and family, so I’ve put together a list of the best places to see them, from Manhattan to Eastern Long Island- the {new york} life has your 4th plans covered!
Economics and The Market
As per the latest edition of TOWN Economics at a Glance, The New York State Department of Labor updated the employment statistics for May to reflect that New York City experienced a combined jobs increase of 1.9% in the private and government sectors.
the {real estate} life: New Developments in Tribeca
The summer is certainly heating up, but the hottest part about NYC right now are the new developments from some of my favorite architects popping up in Tribeca. Here are 8 buildings to watch, and I’m sure you won’t be able to miss them.
There are endless things to do in New York, especially in the summer. This season is the perfect time to explore everything the {new york} life has to offer outside of Manhattan with some fabulous local trips!
One of the newest additions to fabulous Chelsea is the champagne garden at the High Line Hotel, Champagne Charlie. This chic pop-up restaurant just opened in the very European looking front garden of The High Line Hotel on Tenth Avenue. From legendary Australian restaurateur Lincoln Pilcher, known for Moby Dick’s in Montauk and Gilligan’s at the Soho Grand.

Happy Holidays & 2014 – the {new york} life This year has been a year…
Last year, I had an amazing experience participating in Tracy Anderson’s Detox Week. Tomorrow is kicking off the 2013 detox and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ll be sharing this week’s adventure with you soon but here are some fond memories of last year:
With the 4th of July weekend behind us, summer is in full force and (if this weekend’s weather was any indication) the temperature is only going to rise. While sitting indoors with the air conditioner cranked up to capacity may be an easy solution, it’s impossible–and almost silly–to spend your entire summer inside. Check out these rooftop pools for a quick, cool getaway from the city’s upcoming heat waves.
This weekend is a particularly exciting one as ArtHamptons teams up to celebrate Hamptons Magazine’s 35th anniversary and then tomorrow is “Dan’s Taste of Two Forks” event hosted by Bobby Flay with emcee Alex Guarnaschelli.
Access, convenience and luxury at it’s finest; here at TOWN, that’s what we’ve become accustomed…
Last week, the latest Trunk Show was hosted at a gorgeous penthouse at 55 Warren, in the heart of TriBeCa. Guests sipped on wine and summer rosé while perusing a myriad of chic couture provided by Edition 01 – a creative agency focusing on commerce and product development.
Summer is almost upon us and I’m so excited to get out enjoy all of the exciting things to do in the sun. As many of you probably already know, I’m a Tracy Anderson devotee – I even dropped ten pounds on her detox program in the Hamptons last summer and danced my butt off doing it. I also enjoyed several classes at Barry’s Bootcamp with my husband. It was one of the most unique and challenging workouts I’ve ever had in one hour. – It will leave you breathless! This year, I’m dying to try yoga paddleboards.
I am thrilled to announce the one year anniversary of The {New York} Life! What I’ve been able to share with you over the last year has been both fun and moving. The greatest reward though has been the opportunity to develop incredible relationships with amazing, inspiring friends that have enriched my career and have given me an insider’s view on all the different ways people express life in Manhattan – with their homes, through food, with fitness, in being mommies. I am so grateful to live in this amazing city that has always had so many doors of opportunity for growth for me.
Whether you’re making a quick trip to the coast for Memorial Day Weekend or traveling abroad for an adventurous holiday, be sure you celebrate what this first big summer weekend is all about: sun, good food, friends or family, and fun! Here is a guide to my favorite summer spots, near and far.
the {new york} life’s mission is to apply our lifestyle marketing and our work with amazing companies like Edition01 and co-brand with incredible brands to market high-end TOWN Real estate Luxury properties. We are proud to announce the next private event to take place at 55 Warren, 9H with a trunk show from Edition01, featuring their limited edition capsule collections with designers like Tracy Anderson, Thakoon, Pamela Love and more!
Estefania Lacayo is the founder of one of my favorite online shopping sites, Edition01.com. Edition01 is the destination for innovative and exclusive product collaborations across fashion, lifestyle and art. Estefania and her team work with the best international fashion and accessories designers, artists and creatives to bring the chicest of shoppers rare talent pairings and original style pieces. Estefania’s business savvy isn’t the only thing that drew me to her. She also captivated me with her great taste: in home decor (her own home displays a beautiful mix of organic pieces with sterling silver accents), in restaurants (read about her favorites below!) and the way she approaches life in New York as a celebration of creativity.
I chatted with Estefania recently over lunch at The Nomad and got to know what makes her New York Life so unique…

The best thing about eating healthy isn’t as much the affect it has on the outside as the benefits you can gain on the inside. Heath is more important than size, and these immune boosting superfoods will keep you healthy and able to enjoy your busy work days, workouts, family time, and all that makes up your New York life!
Keep these foods prevalent in your diet for multiple immune system benefits…
There are two things I am so thankful for this week!
1. Anyone who reads The {New York} Life and all your lovely comments to me! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share with you all the things I love about life in New York.
And 2. Spring is here! In honor of the bright new season, I’ve put together a gift package that includes my favorite things of the season and will help you start some new healthy habits…
Recently we celebrated my son Tyler’s 7th birthday in the park with cake from Ruthy’s Bakery, a piñata, and lots of friends! Some of the greatest things about New York are the many ways in which you can celebrate life’s best moments.
Here’s how we made Tyler’s Birthday fun and a success and you can do it your favorite New York City park…
TOWN Residential’s new marketing campaign, “Look Up New York” is beyond inspiring. How often do you look up throughout your day, between business and iPhones and all of our daily distractions, and notice the beauty of this city in the history and architecture? This week I was so thrilled to celebrate the release of Out There with my lovely friend Maria Brito. Maria does an incredible job of inviting you into her world through the stories and photos…
Jumpsuits take me back to the 70’s, when I started wearing them at the age of 5! This year, be sure to add at least one jumpsuit to your wardrobe. They are so versatile: I wore my Isabel Marant jumpsuit to my son’s 7th birthday party this past weekend. I would also pair one with a sharp, tailored suit jacket to meet clients…
It seems that Spring has finally arrived, and what better time to enjoy its debut than Easter Weekend – especially in Manhattan where there are so many options for how to celebrate! An Easter Egg Hunt in Central Park, or at a museum? Family brunch, or your kids can learn to be junior chefs! The {New York} Life and Luxury Attache put together a list of the city’s best kid-friendly events for your Easter Weekend!
I love the balance of my friend Marni Salup’s New York lifestyle! A neighborhood she loves, a walk-up apartment with tons of character, a PR company she founded herself, and the healthy discipline and strength of a triathlete. Through her PR work she secured a recent feature for Maria Brito in Elle Magazine – an example of how women can help each other succeed, adding value to each other’s lives by celebrating and empowering each other and sharing in our journey of parenting, careers and being our strongest selves!
Marni is inspiring in so many ways! Naturally, I had to ask her to sit down and talk with me about her exciting life in Chelsea and what she loves most about living in New York…
Living in NYC is a never ending discovery of new hot spots, but along with that there are “old New York” spots where you can truly enjoy a night out and step back in time. As my dear friend Bianca Pratt would say, “Don’t you enjoy experiencing old New York at this bar?” Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle Hotel is a cozy old New York…
There is so much about style that’s inspiring me this spring: my passion, in the new lines that make me feel powerful at work; my gratefulness to be a mommy in fun twists on city mommy looks for spending time with my kids; my creativity, in fun ways to layer these fresh pieces… style infiltrates every part of our lives! This season, I’ll post a new style board each week, sharing some of my favorite pieces with you, from the casual to the formal…
Last night I had an amazing dinner at a new favorite spot, Tribeca Canvas. Directed by Iron Chef Morimoto, the well-priced menu features American cuisine with an Asian twist. My favorites were the shrimp nachos, the insanely delicious sea bass, and my friend Rogeria had the steak! We also shared a bottle of my favorite Malbec (Riglos Gran Malnec 2010). The decor is beautiful and I love having a place like this in Tribeca! That’s just what I told Chef Morimoto during our brief chat…
I love Spring in Manhattan! The streets start to thaw and the best of the city’s events appear on my calendar. One of my favorites of the year is The Armory Show, a showcase of the world’s very best artists. Saint Patrick’s Day and Easter also add to the month plenty of chances for family fun. Here are the events that should be on your agenda this month…
The first of many The {New York} Life events took place at one of the most stunning lofts in Tribeca, 55 North Moore, which is my exclusive at Town Residential. Here’s where all our 5 categories meet from The {New York} Life: a hot NYC property, many fitness devotees from Tracy Anderson Method, the most glam mommies in the city, Flycakes’ custom decorated homemade cookies (for us foodies!), chic Manhattan style from the fabulous Bianca Pratt’s jewelry…
It was an honor to be part of this month’s AVENUE Magazine! If you don’t know AVENUE yet, it’s a must-read among the city’s most stylish and savvy audiences. By celebrating the blend of affluence and influence…
Food Chain is a film by Eric Schlosser (Food, Inc., Fast Food Nation) and director Sanjay Rawal (Challenging Impossibility) that explores the exploitation of farm workers in the agriculture industry in the United States, the complicity of government and corporations in perpetuating human rights abuses and the role consumers can play in ending some of the most egregious human rights violations within our borders. Our fruits and vegetables are grown and gathered by workers who are underpaid (wages equal cents on the dollar!) and who are bought and sold like slaves…
Being a city mommy has its own challenges and rewards. There are days I claim a “total success” when I can drop my kids off to school, pick them up and do homework with them and contribute towards playtime while negotiating deals for my clients and showing the hottest properties in the city, and fit in a workout. However, not every day is the perfect city mommy or real estate life day…
Happy Valentine’s Day! Fall in love with Bianca Pratt in a special Valentine’s Day Q&A!
I met my friend Bianca Pratt first as a workout buddy at Tracy Anderson’s studio, and I’ve been lusting after her jewelry ever since. The simplicity of her pieces creates a very classic style that looks great on any woman and would make a perfect Valentine’s gift, even if for yourself! They are also great pieces to wear in business, for they’re not ostentatious. I sat down with Bianca at her Tribeca loft, which mirrors the classic beauty of her work, to talk about the New York life, mommyhood, and how she creates a “balancing act” in her life…
Spend your snow day in Manhattan sledding with the kids at one of these parks, known for their sledding hills in winter, or take the family (or a date!) ice skating at the Standard Hotel rink. Meeting the girls? Sip afternoon tea at the Plaza Hotel.
Here’s a quick guide to the best things to do when it’s snowy in New York!
Can’t you just feel the buzz in the air? Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicks off today, and it’s not just the tents and the shows but the events and the hottest bars and restaurants in town that all get taken over by fashion’s elite…
Life has its own design. You have a choice but it’s up to you to go with it, to walk through the open doors of opportunity. Sometimes an opportunity you never expected or weren’t looking for will present itself to you, and you have to recognize that it could elevate your life. This quote from Oprah says it all for me…
This week I took a bold step in my life and was reminded how important healthy eating is to our overall health: physically, mentally and emotionally. When you’re kicking things up in your life, be it big career changes, a new fitness routine, new relationships, it’s always important to rejuvenate, recharge and replenish your good energy by putting good things into your body. What better timing than to explore some of my tips for eating healthy for yourself and the whole family…
The new year has brought about so much new inspiration, but also some reminders of the things that have been inspiring me for a long time. We’ve just added a new page to The {New York} Life specifically celebrating my 12 years as an agent and 10 years as a Co-Founder and COO at Mark David & Company. I am extremely grateful for everyone…
This month we will be picking some of our favorite fitness and loungewear pieces to inspire your work out style and keep you moving into the new year! Our first feature comes from my friend Elana Brynes, founder of go-to luxury loungewear brand Kings of Cole, whose latest line is an exclusive and limited edition collection with lifestyle brand goop…
What a great start to 2013, joining Tracy Anderson on Good Morning America with all my inspiring friends from the Tracy Anderson Method studio. Being a wife, a mom and an entrepreneur has its many daily challenges, however if it wasn’t for my amazing support team and great work outs at Tracy Anderson studios I would not be able to do it all…
If you’re anything like me, you are in great need of a detox after the big meals and constant little snacks of the holidays. How convenient that New Years and its resolutions are coming up this week, giving us the perfect opportunity for a fresh start at revising our own personal goals and daily habits. Speaking of habits, how you start your day can determine the rest of your day, both in what you give to your body and how you feed your mind…
Happy New Year! Feliz año nuevo! Bonne année! Feliz Ano Novo! З Новим роком! 新年快樂! С Новым Годом! boldog új évet! gott nytt år! godt nytår! I am thrilled to have had the opportunity this year to create The {New York} Life! What I’ve been able to share with you over the last 6 months has been both fun and moving.
It has been such an honor to get to know Stephanie Hirsch lately. I was initially wowed by her genius work branding Soul Cycle, making cycling so cool, but even more so am I in love with her colorful, vibrant and chic artwork and inspired by her spirit! We sat down this week to talk about Stephanie’s work, her New York lifestyle, and what 2013 holds for her…
There are some hot properties on the market in Chelsea right now! With all of the growing families in New York City and the great private schools in Downtown Manhattan (like Avenues), it’s become hard to find new properties to own or invest in for under $2.75M – but not impossible! These 3 bedroom listings are all under $2,750,000, are West of 5th Avenue and are going to go fast.
Recently I had the opportunity to try what is being described as many as the “Best Juice Cleanse,” BluePrintCleanse, as a gift from my friends at Manhattan Magazine! There are three options for cleanses
I’m so excited to have this incredible, stylish, SoHo building available for our clients to call home! 55 Mercer Street is a dream space in SoHo that combines luxury living with original charm – the best of New York!
This past weekend Mark and I attended the Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts’ annual black tie event! My search for a gown got me to thinking about all of the holiday events coming up, and all of the fabulous formal wear that I (and you!) will need for our holiday, office, cocktail, fundraising and new years eve soirees!
If you’re visiting New York or if you’re not planning to cook for the whole family this year, you might look into dining at one of New York’s incredible restaurants for an effortless and enjoyable Thanksgiving feast . Here are some of the city’s best Thanksgiving dinner spots…
I waited 40 years to go to Paris. It had been a long-standing dream of mine and finally I got to visit the amazing city for my 40th birthday with the love of my life! I can’t think of a better way to travel to such a romantic and culture-packed place. The food (we lived on crepes), the art (the Louvre alone is days and days worth of iconic paintings and statures!) and the fashion (Dior, Isabel Marant, the inspiring street style!) are just some of what make Paris so unique. The city itself is beautiful too…
I had the pleasure of meeting Greg Solometo, the CEO and Founder of Nannies of New York, recently and was so moved by the story of what sparked him to found Nannies of New York. Even more, remembering my experience interviewing…
So many of the shoes at Barney’s right now have my attention! From new…
There’s something about the start of a new season that gives me a bit of the travel itch. And, thanks to Crystal Meers, who I met while working out this summer, I have a new way to plot out the next stop on my jet set schedule! Crystal is a part of the team behind Fathom, a travel site that does more than just point to a destination…it gives you every possible detail you could ever hope for. There’s a section for everything, including dedicated posts on what you like to travel for…
I spent my Friday afternoon at the top of The Standard Hotel with Tracy Anderson and Christy Turlington (and many of my lovely TAM girlfriends) at the Every Mother Counts lunch event. Addressing an important global issue, Christy Turlington founded Every Mother Counts in 2010 with the mission to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for moms worldwide.
What happens when you take a historic-rail-yard-turned-public-park and add in a bit of shockingly healthy dishes to eat?
You get Cooking Light’s food festival at the High Line, naturally…
This is a juicy novel from an amazing woman, author Allie Kingsley, who had the smarts to turn her experiences working as a photorapher’s assistant into a fun and entertaining read! Here’s the summary from GoodReads.com…
I don’t say nearly enough how I love my readers. But I really do! And I’m giving away a gift to prove it.
Remember the Adidas Climate leggings I wore with Tracy Anderson on QVC just a few weeks ago? Well, when you subscribe to The {New York} Life, you’ll be automatically entered to win a pair of my favorite leggings! Don’t worry. They’ll be new. I’m not sending you my pair. : )
Subscribe now (look in the top right corner)! I’ll announce the stylish winner on October 1st!
I love bold colors and pop art by all kinds of artists. Of course, the man who started it all, Andy Warhol, is a definitely favorite. That’s why I’m looking forward to this fall at the Met, as they pay tribute to the legacy of Andy Warhol with Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years. The exhibition examines The Factory founder’s influence on art and culture by juxtaposing nearly 45 of his paintings, sculptures and films alongside works from contemporary artists who have reinterpreted or been influenced by his pop art sensibility. You’d think they curated this one just for me!
It’s fall in New York, and that statement comes with an automatic sensory overload. Art openings (check back Monday for my choice of must-see exhibit), the most perfect walks on the High-Line, the best fashion to be had in the city, and an outpouring of new restaurants to expand your tastes! This fall, I am thrilled to see the new batch of great restaurants opening their doors and feeding our bellies (and, for we foodies, our souls).
Being a real estate agent in New York City allows me to view some of the city’s most gorgeous and amazing buildings. I’ve seen hundreds of places to live throughout the city, but there are a few that really stand out to me due to their location, amenities and other other offerings. I’ve put together a list of my favorite buildings in Manhattan for you to explore.
It’s my birthday week, and I promise you there’s no shortage of celebrations. We kicked things off with a garden barbecue at Sonya Chodry’s gorgeous house. She grows so much of her own food, and everything was delicious, from the salad to the vegetables to the burgers on the grill. There’s nothing better than sharing delicious and healthy food with amazing friends! I’m feeling so blessed.
I mentioned it last week, but it deserves a post all of it’s own. If you haven’t checked out leibal.com yet, it’s time to peruse and be inspired by these modern, space saving accessories just begging to revamp your home.
August and September are my favorite months to shop – when all the new fall styles hit the stores. Nothing makes me happier than a new leather jacket, a classic Chanel bag (a must-have for every girl’s wardrobe), some fresh tees and skinny pants. Then of course I top it all off with some stand-out jewelry, whether some stacked bracelets or a memorable necklace. There’s something so inspiring about fall fashion; the edge, the layering, the mystery…
Has there ever been a better book for a little girl?! The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City follows Sophie as she travels to different worlds in her daddy’s office building. The book teaches kids about fashion, design, weddings, and the glamorous life inside magazine publishing.
It’s amazing how one new piece – whether art, furniture, a pillow, a curtain – can freshen up the look of a whole room and make your home feel bright! The talented Sonya Chodry created the custom Brigitte Bardot art piece for me, below, and I can’t wait to hang it in our Chelsea home! I’ve also stopped into Sebastian + Barquet (601 west 26th street in Chelsea) a few times to be inspired by their unique designs in gorgeously printed fabrics.
Elana Brynes and I met at Tracy Anderson Method’s Detox Week in the Hamptons, where she had come to do a trunk show for her Kings of Cole brand, and I was immediately impressed both with Elana’s energy and the creativity in her work! Of course, I ordered two of her Kings of Cole sweatshirts, which are flattering, unique, and comfortable, and I’ve been wearing them nonstop!
I asked Elana, a native New Yorker, to chat with me about her life on the Upper East Side and the inspiration behind Kings of Cole.
It’s no secret that the Chelsea neighborhood is one of the great loves of my life. There is nowhere else I’d rather live, and witnessing first-hand the evolution of West Chelsea is exciting and extraordinary. Real Estate Weekly just posted this letter regarding the expansion of the Chelsea Market, and of course I had to share.
Yesterday my friend Sonya Chodry took me to an art class at The Art Barge with artist Linda Capello as our instructor. Linda was really good with me as a beginner and it was amazing to see so much talent there! Linda has a background in fashion, which is why she’s excellent at figure drawing. It was great for the mind too, to get away to such a beautiful space and focus on something new and creative.
Art has always fascinated me and living in New York City, we are surrounded by it! My friend Maria Brito is my art buddy – she and I share passion for Brazilian photographers with vivid photography of beaches of Brazil, Vic Munoz of Wasteland, and we both like the pop art of Andy Warhol and others of that era. {Read about Maria Brito} I love the portraits for Great Expectations with Gwyneth Paltrow and Ethan Hawke (drawings with painting over them). My dream would be to have portraits of our Tyler and Sofia done like that one day!
What an unforgettable week! I just finished Detox Week at Tracy Anderson Method’s Water Mill Studio in the Hamptons, during which I was challenged like never before! What an amazing group of motivated, inspiring women I was honored to share the experience with. Here, I’ll share with you a little bit of my Detox Week experience.
I’m so blessed to have a career and a company that I love being a part of every single day. The agents at Mark David & Company are like family, and I so enjoy the trust they put in both Mark and me to shape their careers. There’s a lot of hard work at MDNY, and also a lot of fun, but most importantly we build relationships: with each other and with each client that walks through our door. Not only do we give our agents the tools and hone their skills to help clients find just the right home, but we instill in them the value of continuing those relationships past the clients’ moving-day, and the stories our agents have to tell are beyond inspiring.
Here’s a little look into the {real estate} life!
These are some of my favorite pieces to wear right now – both what I find myself drawn to in the morning when I’m getting dressed for the day, and the first things I toss in my suitcase when we’re headed out of town, for both short and long trips. You’ll probably recognize a lot of these pieces from my recent pictures. Now you’ll know where they’re from so you can snag them for your own summer wardrobe. Happy shopping!
One of our agents at Mark David & Company is starting a new adventure in life and I can’t wait to see the result! Buena Batiste, along with her sister Kenniece Webber, have written a smart and fun children’s book called The Chicken and The Egg.
The characters in The Chicken and The Egg debate which one should go first by pleading not their own, but each other’s cases.
Mark and I were fortunate to be invited to Manhattan Magazine’s Six Degrees Dinner Series in June. The intimate dinner party was hosted by the magazine’s Senior Vice President and Group Publisher, Matt Caroll, at Midtown’s newest restaurant Brasserie Pushkin, celebrating the June edition of MANHATTAN’s monthly Six Degrees dinner series.
Yesterday I stopped by the West Chelsea home of my client-turned-friend Sandra Alvim, an astrologer, writer, and beauty expert. Her book, Yes I’m 58, is evidence of the healthy and fit lifestyle that Sandra lives. And, as she told me while we chatted, West Chelsea is the perfect neighborhood for such a lifestyle.
What a weekend! Summer is in full swing and now every weekend feels like a mini-vacation. We spent last weekend in the Hamptons; splashing in the pool, visiting with friends, celebrating a birthday, and of course I made a stop at Tracy Anderson’s Water Mill location for a dance class.
Besides being really passionate for real estate, another one of my big loves in life is fashion. This quote by Gianni Versace sums it up: “Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.” One of my absolute favorite designers is Isabel Marant, largely in part because her line is both fashionable and practical.
A favorite lunch spot for sparking creativity, Imperial No. 9 is settled just off the lobby of the dreamy Mondrian SoHo hotel at 9 Crosby Street. I took my creative team there yesterday for a little Friday lunch and some brainstorming. Known for bringing sustainable seafood to downtown New York, and for its greenhouse-and-chandalier atmosphere, the restaurant was the perfect place to escape the heat (and then watch the rain!).
The July issue of Manhattan Magazine will be hitting the stands in the next few days, but I wanted you all to be the first to see our new ad!
I met Maria Brito three years ago when she was first launching her “Lifestyling” business to help people become more knowledgeable on buying art for their homes, as well as creating a lifestyle in their home that they couldn’t achieve on their own. Maria is the quintessential Chelsea woman: creative, driven, dedicated to improving the happiness of others, a wonderful mommy, and extraordinarily cultured with impeccable taste.
This listing is just stunning, and has so much character! Owned and styled by a lifestyle, personalties and real estate editor, this place is a realtor – and a New Yorker’s – dream. 16 Mercer St, an Artist Loft in the Historic 1863 SoHo loft building, was originally built in 1863 to house Union troops. On a cobblestone street with vintage lighting, this historic structure is one of the last remaining SoHo gems.
It is no secret that I love hats. Love, love, love. And there is no better time to add to your assortment of hats than now. The perfect easy summer accessory, a guard against too much sun on your face, and, of course, hats give you that little boost in sass. (Carly Simon, anyone?)
Here’s my take on the best hat trends this summer!
Mercer Kitchen is a classic Soho staple where you can always count on favorites like steamed shrimp salad with avocado, mushrooms, tomato, and champagne vinaigrette, and I love the roasted chicken with french beans, carrots and mashed potatoes.
There’s a small street level cafe and then a larger dining room one floor below; each room is diverse but all are shadowy and warm, with original brick and cozy booths. The crown jewel is the open kitchen.

The most colorful 5K you’ve ever seen is coming to New York! The Color Run will be painting the town, and you, on August 25th and 26th. The only rule at The Color Run is that you pass the start line in a clean white tshirt and cross the finish line covered head to toe in color. Whether you prefer casual strolls through the park or precisely timed marathon running, this is one not to miss!
There’s something special about summer in New York… It’s like the busy city takes a deep breath and relaxes just a little. The styles on the street are lighter and brighter, windows are open, the parks are dotted with picnickers, and everyone is looking for the nearest beach or pool!
