L’Avenue + Au Cheval | Top 2 New Eateries Uptown & Downtown

L’Avenue | Saks Fifth Avenue

Parisian favorite and celebrity host restaurant, L’Avenue, is bringing its first US eatery to New York City and not just to any location, but the location: Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. Celebrities such as Kanye West, Justin Bieber, and Rihanna regard Paris’s L’Avenue as their brasserie of choice, which they have been seen paying a visit to when taking a jaunt to The City of Lights. The upscale restaurant is appropriately located within New York’s premier department store, dawning luxury brands and attracting impressive clientele.

Au Cheval | Tribeca

New York City is full of diners, but we can bet that none of them ever opened to a massive crowd willing to wait up to three hours for a booth. Then again, Au Cheval isn’t quite the fluorescent-lit greasy spoon we’re used to satisfying our drunchies at.

The Chicago import (from celebrated restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff), which clearly boasts a built-in cult following, debuted to much fanfare on a nondescript alleyway in Tribeca this week. And though it calls itself a diner, the eatery’s exposed brick walls, plush banquettes, and exceptional menu items certainly rank it a few steps above. We mean, when was the last time you had foie gras at a diner? Trick question – if you had, you’d have never lived to tell the tale.

Of course, the main draw (and reason New York foodies are seriously freaking out) is the burger. You can pile it high with two black Angus beef patties, American cheese, bacon, a fried egg, pickles, and dijonnaise. All sandwiched between a perfectly toasted bun. No wonder it took over the Windy City – and Instagram

From the looks of it, NYC is set to be its next all-too-willing conquest.
