Last week, my friend Sonya and our family decided to venture from our Southhamtpon homes to the beaches of Montauk with the kids. After dancing at the Tracy Anderson Watermill studio we took a drive of about 45 minutes to have lunch at Navy Beach Restaurant and had a delicious meal there with our kids. A must try is the grilled shrimp salad with arugula, avocado, sweet corn, agrumato vinaigrette; as well as the mexi corn with cilantro, lime, chili, mayo, and queso blanco; and p.e.i. mussels with white wine, garlic, and tomato. Navy Beach has a relaxed beachy feel and is very kid friendly. Also close is the very popular hotel and restaurant, The Surf Lodge.
It was a bit cloudy that day so we ventured with the kids to the Montauk lighthouse. So worth the views, but the stairs going to the top are not really the best idea for kids under 4. They did love it, however, and we took it all in.
We did get to experience one of Montauks’ wonderful beaches, Ditch Plains Beach. This popular ocean beach has beautiful cliffs rising at its western end at Rheinstein Park, restrooms, outdoor showers, and two concession trailers that serve more than just snacks. Come here to surf or watch the surfers! We refueled in the village with cookies and the best brownies ever, and then headed to Sagg Main street for its Monday night bongos on the beach.
Sounds like a perfect day in the Hamptons to me. Thanks for stopping by the shop yesterday, so lovely too see you and Sophia!
