Holiday Style: Black Tie Tips

This past weekend Mark and I attended the Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts’ annual black tie event!  My search for a gown got me to thinking about all of the holiday events coming up, and all of the fabulous formal wear that I (and you!) will need for our holiday, office, cocktail, fundraising and new years eve soirees!

There are some of the season’s best gowns, from Valentino to Dolce and Gabbana!

This season, you don’t have to spend upwards of $5000 for the high end gowns.  You can look like a million dollars while being able to invest in a new property!  Here are my best tips: Visit the department stores where you have access to many designers in one space.  Remember that price points can vary widely, so keep an open mind.  You may not have to spend as much as you think to look incredible.  Lastly, accessories can really make your look.  If you’re wearing a gorgeous but classic black gown, the statement necklace you add or even the cape that you wear when you arrive can really make your look one that is talked about all night!

All under $1000 – Alice + Olivia, Monique Lhuillier, Catherine Malandrino

My dress for the VAEA event was the above gown from Monique Lhuillier, which I found for under $600!  My friend and the co-chair of the event, Maria Brito, wore a stunning green dress by Angel Sanchez. (See the sketch in the photos below!) and my favorite look of the night might have been the gold long-sleeved Lanvin dress.

I found these out Black Friday shopping:

This one is $1150 – 40% off!

Whatever your plans are for your most sparkly holiday evenings, have so much fun!  And remember that if you feel great, you will look great!

Here are some shots from our night out at the VAEA event this weekend:
