If you’re looking for a little local culture, head over to West Chelsea where the Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure exhibit is taking place. Basquiat, a native New Yorker gained notoriety in the art scene in the late 1970’s through 1980’s and is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the modern and contemporary art period. On view is a collection of more than 200 never before seen and rarely shown paintings, drawings, and multimedia presentations. This exhibition was organized and curated by the family of Jean- Michel Basquiat, telling a story of his life from a deeply personal perspective.
