Hottest Table in Town: Torrisi

Hottest Table in Town: Torrisi

From Major Food Group comes Torrisi, 2.0.

Closing out 2022 was one of the most highly anticipated restaurant openings in the city, aptly named after Major Food Group Partner, Rich Torrisi. Paying homage to Rich’s Italian American roots, Torrisi differs from the group’s already existing red sauce sister restaurants Carbone and Parm by offering Italian fare with a strong New York focus.

I first heard about the restaurant from Mariella Figurasin, our team’s in house Creative Agency. Mark and I immediately wanted to check it out. We rushed over on a Monday to find that the restaurant was closed. We tried again two days later after a work event for drinks and shared bites at the bar with the team.

The original Torrisi closed in 2015. Torrisi 2.0 is located on the ground floor of the Puck Building on Mulberry Street and has a grand, layered layout with a 35-seat lively bar area that faces an open kitchen and a 40-seat dining room tucked in the back. Every seating area offers the same à la carte menu with rotating specials in each dining area. Many of the dishes offered are finished tableside for an extra personal touch.

The bar scene is lively and worth checking out. I’d recommend going with a few friends and sharing the charcuterie plate, clam pizza and cucumber salad.

Reservations available via Resy.

Location: 275 Mulberry Street (Jersey Street), (212) 254-3000, torrisinyc.com.
