European Getaway: Sun, Sea & Soul‑Restoring

There’s something powerful about pressing pause. This summer, our family was in deep need of exactly that—a reset, a reconnection, a summer moon. So, I did something a little wild. With the help of my amazing Social Media content collaborator, Barbara, we locked ourselves in for 4.5 hours on a Monday to plan this last-minute escape… and by Wednesday, we were in the air.

I’m so grateful for a family that rolls with my adventurous spirit. What followed was more than a vacation—it was a soul-stirring journey through Mallorca, Formentera, Ibiza, and Rome. We returned not just with tans, but with full hearts, renewed energy, and memories we’ll carry long past summer’s end.

Mallorca: Calm, Clarity & Culinary Joy

We immersed ourselves in a community shaped by rich history and culture—exploring ancient ruins, visiting local villages, and savoring authentic Balearic cuisine. Our 3-night stay at the dreamy Aethos Mallorca offered the perfect gateway to the island’s vibrant heritage.

Located in prime beachfront Peguera, Aethos delivers direct access to the sea with stunning panoramic views. We spent our days unwinding by the infinity pool and indulging in the spa and wellness center—an ideal escape for our wellness-focused family.

Just 15 days into its opening when we arrived, Aethos Mallorca welcomed us with an atmosphere that felt like a Mediterranean fairytale. Cool terrazzo tiles, a soft neutral palette, and floor-to-ceiling windows pulled us into the serenity of the space. Flamingo-pink parasols dotted the sun-drenched terrace, adding playful elegance to the tranquil setting.

Every detail felt intentional, drawing from the natural tones and textures of nearby beaches and mountains. Expansive windows flooded the interiors with light, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and the rolling hills beyond. The architecture and interiors blended seamlessly with the surroundings, creating a space that was both grounding and elevated.

We experienced Palma Mallorca, stunning town and architecture.  And  a fun filled night a Leo’s that was quite an experience.  A cabaret dinner show that guest were part of a turned into a club.

The most desirable real estate areas are the Old Town and the peaceful Calatrava district beside the Cathedral. The bohemian district of Santa Catalina (with a great food market, and numerous restaurants and bars), and the attractive old fishing village of Portixol are the most sought-after and the most expensive.

On the hillside overlooking the city, the Son Vida estate is the location of dream homes – offering luxury, privacy and awe-inspiring views.

Formentera: Stillness & Simple Wonders

After a short ferry ride, Formentera welcomed us with its signature calm—quiet, understated, and soul-stirring.

Formentera has always held a special place in our hearts—and sharing it with our kids now makes it all the more meaningful.
Mark and I have cherished memories here, but seeing this island through their eyes brings a whole new kind of magic. Slower days, sun-drenched laughter, and moments we’ll hold onto long after summer fades.

One of the most sentimental highlights: dinner at 10.7 Restaurant—the very same restaurant we dined at seven years ago. The energy, the flavors, and the warm familiarity made it feel like no time had passed. Dining there again, this time with our children, was a full-circle moment I’ll treasure always.

Ibiza: Jet Skis, Sunsets & Soul

Yes, Ibiza is known for its parties. But what it gave us was so much more: adrenaline, serenity, and memories in motion.

One full day was dedicated to the sea—boat cruising, jet skiing, and anchoring in hidden coves for dips and sun. Our favorite moment? Jumping off the back of the boat into a still cove, laughing as a family like no one was watching.

Rome: Pasta, Ruins & Perspective

Ending in Rome gave our family a different kind of nourishment. Walking through the Colosseum, standing in the shadow of ancient pillars—it makes you feel small in the best way.

One night, we found ourselves at a small trattoria near the Pantheon, where the carbonara was creamy, the wine flowed, and the conversation turned thoughtful. Gelato walks under Roman skies, espresso in tiny cups, and letting history soak into our bones… Rome is a city that stays with you.

Why Taking a Break Matters

This trip wasn’t just a vacation. It was a recalibration.

It reminded me how important it is to disconnect from the rush and reconnect with what matters. With each other. With ourselves. With the beauty of exploring—whether it’s a beach, a back street, or a new flavor.

We returned home to NYC refreshed. Sun-kissed, yes—but more than that. Regrounded. Inspired. Whole.

So here’s my gentle nudge to you: plan the trip. take the pause. laugh barefoot in the sand. Life’s too short not to.
