Resident’s Only Club: A Trend in New Development

Next level exclusivity.

The luxury home buyer’s decision making considerations have evolved over the years and developers have taken note. With that comes the birth of a new level of private social clubs where the only way in comes with an apartment. New development luxury buyers want more than just square footage, they want a lifestyle and they’re willing to pay a steep membership fee. I’ve featured two of my favorite new developments leading the the trend below.

Summer Soirée at Central Park Club

Central Park Club

At Central Park Tower, the world’s tallest residential building, Extell created a private club on the tower’s 100th floor which spans 8,300+ square feet and overlooks Central Park, The Hudson and East River all with expansive 360-degree Skyline views. In case you don’t want to cook or entertain in your apartment, the 100th floor houses a grand ballroom that seats up to 120+ guests, a private bar and restaurant with seasonal menus from Michelin-star chefs, as well as a wine and cigar lounge.

If that isn’t enough, there are two other floors of amenities which include a massive 60-foot outdoor swimming pool (in addition to an indoor saltwater pool), sun deck, as well as cabanas for warmer weather enjoyment. A residents’ lounge with a games room, screening area and business center as well as a spa, fitness center and a squash/half basketball court are all available for resident’s to enjoy.

Down in FiDi, Macklowe Companies is looking to create a private social club that rivals the bests of London and New York, The One Club. Taking inspiration from resort hotel-level amenities and services, The One Club at One Wall Street aims to deliver an elevated daily living experience unlike any other.

Perched atop the 39th floor and overlooking the harbor and downtown city skylines is a private restaurant and landscaped terrace open exclusively for resident’s and their guests to enjoy. One floor below sits an impressive Olympic-Style 75-foot glass enclosed swimming pool and fitness center. Additional amenities include a large co-working space with conference and podcast rooms as well as children and teen spaces.
